About Us ASE Certified

ASE Certified

What is "ASE Certified" and what should I know about it?

Many shops have ASE Certified mechanics. This is a good start, but there’s more to the story. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), provides eight different certifications for each major category:

  1. Engine Repair
  2. Automatic Transmission and Transaxle
  3. Manual Drive Train & Axles
  4. Suspension & Steering
  5. Brakes
  6. Electrical/Electronic Systems
  7. Heating and Air Conditioning
  8. Engine Performance.

A person who has passed all eight exams become Master Certified. This person has demonstrated through testing and the prerequisite level of professional experience to be competent in each category. It’s very similar to other professions.

With auto repair, it’s common that an ASE Certified mechanic may not be certified for the work being done- or not at all Certified. For example, a mechanic that is certified for Brakes, may be working on your engine or electrical system. Because they are not certified for a specific category does not mean a repair shop will only let them service what they are certified for. Automobiles comprise different and unique systems that require specific knowledge. A mechanic who is Master Certified is knowledgeable in all related systems and helps ensure your vehicle is properly cared for. It may also help save time and money as the technician has proven their skills and knowledge.

Not only is the owner of Cascade Autowerkes ASE Master Certified, but has also completed years of technical college training.  When your vehicle comes in for service, rest assured of receiving top-notch service and repair.
